PRE-HUNT CHECKLIST - Before you leave the clubhouse make sure you have
everything you will need in your vehicle. Before you leave your car make sure
you have everything you will need in the field. It's discourteous to have
everyone wait while you sort out your equipment or have a flock of geese flare
off because you are walking back to the car to get something you forgot. You may
not want all of the following, however, this is a list to start with...
 | VALID TEXAS HUNTING LICENSE / STATE AND
FEDERAL STAMPS (SIGNED) THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY! |
 | SHOTGUN, CASE, AMMUNITION, GUNS PLUGGED TO THREE
SHOT MAX CAPACITY. YOUR GUIDE WILL RECOMMEND THE PROPER SIZE SHOT YOU WILL
NEED FOR THE TYPE OF HUNTING YOU WILL DO FOR THE DAY. THE BLUE GOOSE WILL
HAVE AMMO AVAILABLE FOR YOU AT THE FRONT COUNTER |
 | APPROPRIATE CLOTHING, BOOTS GLOVES, HAT, COAT, RAIN
PANTS & COAT, CAMMO CLOTHING 2'x4' PLASTIC FOR GROUND CLOTH, HEARING AND
EYE PROTECTION |
 | FOOD, SNACKS, AND BEVERAGES (WE WILL PROVIDE IF
REQUESTED) |
 | CAMERA - THE BLUE GOOSE WOULD LIKE
A COPY OF ALL THE PICTURES OF YOUR HUNT THAT YOU WILL PROVIDE |
 | MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY LEAD SHOT IN YOUR
POCKETS OR HAME BAG FROM A PREVIOUS HUNT. |
DOGS - Your guide should have a dog, however, you are welcome to bring
yours. We do not have kennel space so bring your own kennel and leave your dog
in the car. Remember there are other members of your party that want to enjoy
the hunt. There is nothing that can ruin a hunt faster than a dog that is out of
control.
SAFETY - A safe hunt is more important that a successful hunt.
 | TREAT ALL GUNS AS IF THEY ARE LOADED! Check
your gun before the hunt and make sure it is not loaded, then treat it as if
it were! |
 | DO NOT LOAD YOUR GUN UNTIL YOUR GUIDE TELLS YOU TO LOAD! |
 | WATCH YOUR MUZZLE - Know and control the direction of your
muzzle, never pull your gun by the muzzle. |
 | KNOW YOUR TARGET - Make sure there is nothing between you and your
target, and there is nothing on the other side of your target. |
 | KEEP IT SERIOUS - Avoid horseplay and never point a firearm where
you don't want to shoot. |
 | INSPECT YOUR FIREARMS - Before loading, inspect your barrel for
obstructions. Check ammunition to make sure its specifications match those
of your gun. |
 | ALCOHOL - NEVER CONSUME ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR OTHER MOOD ALTERING
DRUGS BEFORE OR DURING A HUNT. |
 | AFTER THE HUNT - Be respectful of others, UNLOAD YOUR GUN, GATHER
YOUR TRASH, Leave all areas as you found them. |
 | LEAVE THE FIELD AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE AFTER THE HUNT |
